How To Fix A Running Toilet Without A Flapper?
In the bathroom, continuous discharge of water can waste thousands of liters of water a day, and water bills increase significantly affect your family life. Repairing it on time not only saves you money but also solves nuisance noise. Here are some reasons why a toilet is watery, and you can fix it yourself without any special tools or expertises. The key is to find the cause, the location causing the leak. Once identified, you will solve it quickly.
1. Open the toilet cover and look inside:
Put a towel in the corner or in a safe place that does not entangle you. Hold the porcelain lid with both hands and lift. Put it on a linen pad to avoid collision. The toilet cover is made of heavy and fragile material, so be careful to place it in a safe place.
2. Lock the piping to the toilet:
Before checking, you need to lock the water supply pipe for the toilet. Remove the needle to be empty the tank. This will prevent water from entering the tank while you are considering repair.
The drain valve is a round rubber which is stopping and preventing water coming from the water tank into the toilet. When we pour water, the leash will pull the rubber cover up so that clean water pours into the tank.Inadequate drainage is the most common cause of watery toilet problems.
Toilet drain valve does not retain water in the water tank. The drain valve does not keep the water in the water tank, which causes the water to flow down the toilet continuously through the exhaust valve, causing serious damage to the living water as well as living expenses.
Cause 1: The drain valve is opened that water goes through by a connecting rod between the lever and the exhaust valve which is too long, which drifts into the inside of the exhaust pipe, leading to failure to retain water in the water tank. Fix this point, you just need to adjust the length of this string according to the manufacturer's rate to avoid the connection wire to make the water goes through that is fine.
Cause 2: The rubber seal of the exhaust valve does not have elasticity, because through the long-term use, their elasticity doesn’t have left. Since it no longer creates a tightness, resulting is the water being dropped into the toilet.
To overcome this situation, you only need to clean the rubber gasket with white vinegar, if the condition of the rubber is not dead, it will restore the elasticity. But if the rubber has died elastic then you need to replace the new rubber to overcome the watery like this.
3. Consider the length of the connection between the drain valve and the lever if it’s necessary:
If the cord is too long or too short, the exhaust valve will not work properly. If the cord is too short, the valve will always open when it is not needed and the water rinses into the tank continuously. If the cord is too long, the valve cover will not be pulled up when you remove it, and the water can not drain. If the chain is too tight, remove the hook lever to the lever, moving it over one or two steps. At moderate length, hook it back into the chain and the lever. If the chain is too long, use a metal cutting plier to cut off the top of the chain. After proper adjustment, hook it back into the toilet lever.
4. Check the drain valve to find the problem:
Removing the drainage by removing the hinge between the drain valve and the spillway, which is the opened pipe between the tanks. Observe that the exhaust valve is deformed, discolored, decayed or other signs. You can clean the drain valve if it is sealed, if the valve is damaged in shape, size should be replaced.
Clean the drain valve: Sludge in the water can cling to the exhaust valve, which can not close the valve and water flowing continuously to clean the drain valve, soak it in the vinegar bowl for about 30 minutes, then you use an old toothbrush to rub the dirt on it. When the exhaust valve is clean, place it back in place. The hook on the hinge on the overflow pipe goes into the drain valve.
Turn on the water so the tank is fully filled. Listen to the flowing water to see if the problem has been remedied.
